How to read the table
Find your basic salary (not total package) in the left column, then the column for your completed years. Between listed salaries, scale linearly: AED 11,000 basic sits exactly between the 10,000 and 12,000 rows. What the table shows about the law
Two patterns stand out. First, entitlements grow linearly with salary — doubling basic pay doubles gratuity at any tenure. Second, the growth per year accelerates after year five, when the accrual moves from 21 to 30 days: notice the gap between the 5-year and 7-year columns is proportionally larger than between 3 and 5. The 24-month cap only affects very long tenures — none of the combinations shown here reach it.

Why does the rate jump after 5 years?
The law raises the accrual from 21 to 30 days of basic pay per year beyond year five, rewarding longer service.
Is gratuity based on total or basic salary?
Basic only — allowances for housing and transport are excluded, which is why the basic figure in your contract matters.
