How work hours are calculated
The calculator takes the time between your clock-in and clock-out, then subtracts your unpaid break. For example, working 9:00 to 17:30 is 8.5 hours; take away a 30-minute break and you have 8 paid hours. If your shift runs past midnight, the tool automatically treats the end time as the next day, so overnight shifts are handled correctly.
Multiply your daily paid hours by your hourly rate to get daily pay, and by your days per week to estimate weekly hours and pay. Because you choose the currency, this works for hourly and shift workers anywhere in the world.
Tips for accurate tracking
- Enter the break time your employer does not pay for — paid breaks should not be subtracted.
