How to calculate your hourly rate from weekly or biweekly pay
Weekly and biweekly paychecks are easy to convert to an hourly rate — you just divide by the hours the paycheck covers.
From weekly pay
Hourly = weekly pay ÷ hours per week. If you earn $800 a week for 40 hours, that is $800 ÷ 40 = $20 per hour. Work 32 hours for the same $800 and your rate rises to $25.
From biweekly pay
A biweekly paycheck covers two weeks, so divide by twice your weekly hours (usually 80 for full-time). Hourly = biweekly pay ÷ 80. A $2,000 biweekly paycheck is $2,000 ÷ 80 = $25 per hour.
