Formula
Convert everything to minutes: (hours ร 60 + minutes) added to or subtracted from the start time, wrapping past midnight. Crossing 24:00 rolls to the next (or previous) day.
Worked examples
- 9:30 AM + 2h 45m โ 12:15 PM.
- 11:00 PM + 3h โ 2:00 AM next day.
- 2:15 PM โ 5h 30m โ 8:45 AM.
Common mistakes
- Adding minutes as decimals (2.45 hours is not 2h 45m).
- Forgetting the day rollover on overnight shifts.
- Mixing 12-hour and 24-hour formats mid-calculation.

Questions
What time will it be in X hours?
Enter now as the start time and add the hours โ rollovers to the next day are handled.
How do shift workers use this?
Enter clock-in plus shift length to get clock-out, including overnight shifts.
Can I subtract time?
Yes โ switch to Subtract to go backwards, e.g. for prep or departure times.
Does it handle time zones?
No โ it works within one clock; adjust manually across zones.
Why minutes, not decimals?
Clock math is base-60; 2.5 hours is 2h 30m, not 2h 50m.
