Convert everything to minutes: (hours × 60 + minutes) added to or subtracted from the start time, wrapping past midnight. Crossing 24:00 rolls to the next (or previous) day.
Worked examples
- 9:30 AM + 2h 45m → 12:15 PM.
- 11:00 PM + 3h → 2:00 AM next day.
- 2:15 PM − 5h 30m → 8:45 AM.
Common mistakes
- Adding minutes as decimals (2.45 hours is not 2h 45m).
- Forgetting the day rollover on overnight shifts.
