Details
Formula
Required final score = (target โ current ร (1 โ weight)) รท weight. Your current grade fills the non-exam portion; the final fills the rest.
Worked examples
- Current 78%, final worth 30%, target 85% โ need 101.3% (not possible; aim 80% instead โ need 84.7%).
- Current 90%, weight 25%, target 90% โ need exactly 90%.
- Current 85%, weight 40%, target 80% โ need just 72.5%.
Common mistakes
- Using the exam's point value instead of its percentage weight.
- Forgetting remaining homework that also counts.
- Setting an impossible target instead of recalculating a realistic one.
